Before You Join

Bike Check

Ensure your bike is in working order. Brakes, tyres, and gears should function properly. Basic maintenance is your responsibility.

Safety Gear

Wear a helmet (strongly recommended, not mandatory). Bring front and rear lights and wear high-visibility clothing, especially on evening and weekend rides.

Hydration & Snacks

Bring water and a light snack. Group rides include rest stops, but you're responsible for your own nutrition and hydration.

Know the Route

Ask the ride leader for a route overview. Know the distance, terrain, and planned rest stops before you start.

Road Rules

Follow all UK traffic laws. Obey traffic signals, respect pedestrians, and ride predictably. You are responsible for your own safety.

Insurance

Consider personal accident and liability insurance. Anklemove is not responsible for injuries or incidents.

Ride Etiquette & Safety

Communication

Use clear hand signals and verbal warnings. Call out hazards ("car back," "pothole," "stopping"). Keep the group informed of your position.

Spacing

Maintain safe distance from other riders. Avoid drafting (riding immediately behind) unless you're experienced. Leave room for maneuvering.

Group Riding

Stay in single file on busy roads. Regroup at stops. Faster riders set the pace—don't push ahead. Wait for slower riders at intersections.

Respect Others

Be patient with riders of different abilities. Support slower members. Encourage beginners. No competitive behaviour on community rides.

Responsibility

You ride at your own risk. Assume responsibility for your safety. The ride leader is not liable for accidents or incidents.

The Environment

Leave no trace. Respect parks, quiet roads, and pedestrian spaces. Be ambassadors for cycling in our community.
